Half the Chinese Translation Company team members are non-Chinese nationals, and we remember how daunting it can feel doing business in China and trying to ensure communication needs were properly met. Having been through this experience, we can easily pinpoint language and cultural barriers and quickly help you bridge your business with the Far East.

Localisation

Our service is not just about translation. Any translation tool can convert text from one language to another, but highly specialised knowledge is needed to fully and effectively integrate a business's media and marketing material to the linguisitic and cultural context of another country. This process, localisation, is all about adapting your media, whether in the form of websites, printed matter or other communication, to conform with the sensibilities and requirements of its intended audience.

Localisation can take the form of ensuring a company trying to establish a foothold in the Chinese market does not make mistakes like using too much white – a colour associated with death and funerals – or sell clothing in sizes unsuited to the typically smaller Chinese physique, or fall foul of the Chinese goverment's internet policies.

We can suggest how you could convert your media into China friendly images and formats and how to avoid the traps.

Marketing media

We can assist you with all the important presentations and marketing material you require to promote your product or services throughout the Chinese-speaking world. We provide a user-friendly Chinese translations set out with the English on one side, Chinese on the other.

What's wrong with online translation tools?

Website translation tools aren't infallible. Here is a classic error we found using this approach: "Google Translate isn't the best" translated into Chinese actually reads as "Isn't Google Translate the best"

That could have been deliberate. Here is another: "I'm going to write a long sentence in English and hope that the translation makes sense in Chinese" translated into Chinese actually comes out as "I will use English to write long sentences and hopes, translating the significance of China".

Other issues include:

* Lack of industry-specific terminology

* Inability to deal with longer sentences in English

* Inability to derive suitable Chinese names from the English for businesses and for people.

* Failure to account for the time difference between the UK and China

* No warnings about cultural differences.

Why use The Chinese Translation Company over someone else?

Many other companies employ Chinese academics and language specialists who may not understand UK businesses. Our team members all have industry experience in law, finance, aviation, engineering, advertising, retail and entertainment.

We are unique in that we boast a team of Chinese and British professionals fluent in English and Chinese and in business practice.

Guarantee

The Chinese Translation Company offers a satisfaction guarantee on our work, which means we'll be happy to make edits and changes according to your needs and we will refund you if you are unhappy with the end result.
